Cholangiocarcinoma: The Present and Future of Targeted Therapies
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cholangiocarcinomas (CCAs) are a heterogenous group of cancers arising from the biliary epithelium. CCAs tend to metastasize with early lymph node involvement lending poor surgical outcomes and need for systemic therapy. Given paucity successful therapies in these cancers, it is important understand molecular drivers develop therapeutic strategies using targeted either alone or combination. The landscape offers several new potentially targetable drivers.

Targeted Therapies for the Treatment of Pediatric Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas: Present and Future
Pediatric Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (NHL) are a diverse group of malignancies and as such treatment can vary based on the different biological characteristics of each malignancy. Significant advancements are being made in the treatment and outcomes of this group of malignancies. This is in large part due to novel targeted drug therapies that are being used in combination with traditional chemothera...
متن کاملOverweight and Obesity the Major Problem of Present and Future
There are many evidences confirming that a_ BMI more than 25 will significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular problems and related diseases. BMI more than 30 will dramatically raise mortality rate. An increase in BMI will lead to an increase of mean blood pressure and blood cholestrol, and a decrease in HDL levels. In men with morbid obesity the risk of hypertemion and/or elevated cholest...
متن کاملRibosomes: the future of targeted therapies?
Ribosomes are ribo-nucleoprotein complexes that read mRNA to synthesize protein during translation. It is firmly established that the amount of ribosomes strongly correlates with the rate of protein synthesis and with cell growth and proliferation. Because production of ribosomes is a high energy-consuming task, ribosome biogenesis must be finely tuned to adapt the pool of functional ribosomes ...
متن کاملBreast Cancer Therapies Present and Future
Significant advances in breast cancer treatment have been made where it is now possible to treat localized disease to a curable state. However, for approximately 30% of women with primary disease, metastatic breast cancer (MBC) or recurrent disease, treatment has remained challenging. Major obstacles in the effective treatment of breast cancer in these populations include: 1) the molecular hete...
متن کاملMolecular Pathogenesis and Targeted Therapies for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma.
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a molecularly heterogeneous hepatobiliary neoplasm with poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. The incidence of this neoplasm is growing globally. One third of iCCA tumors are amenable to surgical resection, but most cases are diagnosed at advanced stages with chemotherapy as the only established standard of practice. No molecular therapies are...
